Anonymous I bought this coat two years ago in black, but at the time I wanted the gray too. At the anniversary sale price, I just couldn't resist buying the gray finally!! It's warm without feeling bulky and it goes with everything. I typically wear medium but I do take a small in this style. The sleeves are a smidge short if I raise my arms but it looked so much better on than the medium. Invest in this coat!!!!

Anonymous I struggled between giving it 3 or 4 stars. This coat is super cute and unlike most down coats, is actually flattering for your figure. Most importantly it is so warm! I walked around NYC with windchills of 10 degrees and was warm unlike my family. I bought the asphalt grey color which is beautiful with a slight sheen. As soon as I walked into my local Nordstroms I had to have the grey! My complaint is that the coat is nylon (giving it that shine) and gets snagged so easily! I've only had the coat for 2 weeks and it looks two years old already. I'm pretty careful, but I think between my daily metro commute and stuffing the coat in my gym locker, it has gotten snagged. I just feel that this shouldn't happen or show the wear that it does when the coat is this expensive. I think the black version is made out of polyester so it probably doesn't snag, scratch, or show wear so easily. I wish I could exchange mine for the black...

Anonymous This coat is about as flattering & urban as a down coat can be. I wanted a coat that was resistant to rain, had urban good looks, would keep me toasty & be suitable for country rambles & I got it in this coat. The front looks slim fitting, but there seems to be less fit in the back. I anticipate being able to wear a big sweater under this with no problem - which is what I want. It is slightly glossy (I got the gray), hits me above the knee & feels cozy but light weight. The one issue I have with this coat is I wish it had the knitted inner cuffs. Otherwise, sleeve length is long, buttons & zips easily, side pockets are lined - extra warmth & hood fits comfortably without bulk. While a down jacket will never look as tailored as a trench, this is one terrific, attractive coat.

Anonymous I love this coat. I bought it last Winter in the silvery gray color. I like that the color is dark, but has sheen to it that makes it a little dressier than the typical puffer coat. The fit is close to the body, which also helps remove some of the boxiness that is usually a problem with puffy coats. And this coat will keep you WARM. and DRY. I feel impervious to the weather in this thing. The hood is also very functional and warm. It's the best winter coat I've ever owned.

Anonymous Bought the black in a Medium. I am 5'7" 115 with long arms. The Medium fit perfect! Not too bulky, great flattering length. The jacket washes and drys easily!

I would recommend if you are thin and tall with long extremities ( like me) order your normal size. For me its a medium. I like to have some room to layer, and I like my sleeves long. The size small , body fit, is ok, but I always hate the shorter sleeves ending at my wrists. I always feel like I have to keep pulling them down..

Anonymous This jacket is a saviour! I go to school in Wisconsin, and am always outside walking around in the snow and this jacket is so nice and warm. Last year I got a cheaper down-jacket (very similar), but it only lasted 1 year, and it was not as warm, and not as good of quality as this jacket. It is well worth the price. The hood is nice, not too big and bulky, but it does the job. I love how the pockets are lined, as well as the sleeve cuffs! I am 5'11 and thin, and I got the Medium because I wear big sweatshirts/sweaters. The sleeves are nice and long which is hard to find! Walking around school, everyone has this jacket, so that means it must be a great buy!

Anonymous I like this coat because it is warm and very lightweight, but you won't be winning any style awards in it. The length is great, long enough without looking like you're wearing a sleeping bag. I think the shoulders are a tad small, especially for the mid-section, which is a tad big, not the most flattering coat for me. I would like to see an elasticized internal wrist instead of the tapered sleeve, but haven't felt unreasonably cold, so that's not a big complaint. Overall, a very practical coat, and great for traveling due to its lightness and packability.

Anonymous I didn't want a north face coat because everyone had one, but after buying one using a gift card, I can see what everyone is talking about. The metropolis parka is easily the best coat I have ever worn. The length is great, it's long enough to keep my legs warm but short enough for mobility. And it is so comfortable! The taffeta lining is so soft and smooth, it feels silky and combined with the plush down you don't want to take it off. And it isn't puffy at all, I'm 5'8 120 and I got a medium, it is very slimming and shows off your form. The pockets have this really soft fleece lining so your hands are always comfortable, and there's a key clip in one of them, very useful. The hood, while a little large, looks great when it's not on your head, and is still warm when it is. I have the black and it's a great matte finish. I use this jacket for everything, skiing, shopping, running (just remember to zip the bottom zipper up a little), this jacket is PERFECT!!!

Anonymous This parka (which I think of as a coat because of its length) is very much as depicted in the photo: stylish and shapely but practical with good wind protection. It's "feather-light" and teams beautifully with either pants or a skirt. Good for work and weekends. I've yet to test its warmth against a full-on Chicago winter but given North Face's track record, I'm guessing it will perform well.
